India is at a green mobility inflection point and the next
five years will define its sustainable future
In
2025, India crossed a milestone that would have seemed improbable just five
years earlier: 2.3 million electric vehicles sold in a single year,
with EV penetration touching 8%, a more than 600% surge in volumes since
2021. Green mobility has officially moved from boardroom discussion to
mainstream strategy.
But sales alone won't deliver India's commitment to 30%
EV penetration by 2030 under the global EV30@30 campaign. Achieving
the target will require a roughly 4x acceleration over the next five years, supported
by stronger charging infrastructure, smarter financing, resilient supply
chains, and policy continuity across the centre and states.
Benori's latest report, Green Mobility Push in
India: The Roadmap to a Sustainable Future, unpacks exactly what it will
take.
